We will host a concert attraction from New York, the Red Baraat band who will come to Cerkno for a premiere and also exclusive Slovene concert. Red Baraat is a red-hot band that combines Indian dance style banghra with funk, bollywood and hip-hop. Banghra is an energetic traditional style from Northern India (Punjab), which is characterised by the Indian drum dhol and stunning melodies on brass instruments, not unlike the sound of the Balkan brass bands. Red Baraat, founded in 2008 by Sunny Jain, has won audiences and critics with excellently reviewed albums and performances at the most prominent festivals, events or venues such as Bonnaroo, Austin City Limits, Monterey Jazz Festival, WOMAD, the White House and the Olympic games. At the first Slovene concert, they will play this year's fifth album, Sound the People, where we find their unusual mix interspersed with engaged messages. The cult radio broadcast All Songs Considered (NPR) has put the band on the favorite concerts list, while The Chicago Reader wrote "It’s fun as hell." Not to be missed!!
