On the new album Pure and Simple, guitarist Samo Šalamon plays with two jazz legends. American drummer Ra Kalam Bob Moses (b. 1948) played in Rahsaan Roland Kirk's band as a teenager in the 1960s and is considered one of the innovators of jazz fusion. Norwegian double bass player Arild Andersen (b. 1945) recorded more than 30 albums for ECM. He played with giants such as Jan Garbarek, Don Cherry or Bill Frisell. The album with a skilful combination of melodic jazz and modern approaches was very well received in many magazines. “The balance between the ethereal and the earthy as well as the sublime synergy within the band make it a high point in Salamon's uniformly superb career.” (All About Jazz) Kristijan Krajnčan has been developing his project DrummingCellist, in which he plays the drums and the cello at the same time, for many years now. On the recently published third album, Zabučale gore (The Mountains Roared), he tackles Slovenian folk songs, which he interprets with a large dose of experimentation. In some compositions, an original song can be heard in the background (in the case of the song Tri jetrve (Three Sisters-in-Law), it is a more than 100-year-old track!), with which Krajnčan then has an imaginative dialogue, while elsewhere the main folk theme serves as an inspiration for an imaginative and suggestive upgrading of the song. The project had a premiere performance in Ghent in February 2022.
