Viktória Havay and the Cápok plays Hungarian folk music of the Moldavian Csángó’s (a Hungarian minority located in the region of Bacău, Romania). They primarily play dance music on instruments like the flute, kaval, tapan, koboz and violin. This music incorporates elements of many ethnicities of that region (Hungarian, Romanian, Bulgarian etc.). Viktória Havay is an ethnographer and has been an active singer in the Hungarian folk scene for more than fifteen years. She and band members are also playing folk music in several different formations in Hungary. The group Viktória Havay and the Cápok is active for more than five years and has played at many concerts Hungary and all over Europe. The concert at the Cerkno Keltika festival will be something quite special, since the band is coming with two dancers who will liven up their performance.
The concert was prepared with the support of the Balassi Institute in Ljubljana.
