At the double concert, we will be able to see for ourselves how music from vinyl records and cassettes, combined with live musicians, turns into a new genre that impresses with innovative combinations. The Slovenian trio Jimmy Barka Experience, consisting of two DJs and a drummer, has been a fixture of the domestic alternative scene for many years. Their aim is to sound like a band and not a “musician accompanying the DJs”. After a series of releases (singles, mini-album, mixtape, etc.), this year they released their first real full-length album Jusqu'ici tout va bien, on which they take us on a collage-like mischievous trip from hard funk and African rhythms through Brazilian idioms to Greek and blues chants. The Serbian project Lenhart Tapes is steered by Vladimir Lenhart, who plays his mix of diverse Balkan music as well as various sounds and field recordings not from vinyl records, but from cassettes. He does this with walkmans, which makes him one of the most self-styled “mixologists”. During the performance, Lenhart enriches his mix of songs from the rich treasury of Balkan folk music with energetic electronic rhythms, and his “ethno noise” style is further spiced up by guest singers. In Cerkno he will be joined by the excellent vocalist Zoja Borovčanin, one of the three singers (along with Svetlana Spajić and Tijana Stanković) who sings on the highly praised latest album Dens.
