The Zagreb quartet with the unusual name Truth ≠ Tribe (Truth is not Tribe) gathered younger musicians known from other bands of alternative rock, jazz and other genres, such as Antenat, Mimika Orchestra, Živa voda or East Rodeo. The unusual lineup of instruments, which also includes an electronic tuba, and a wide array of musical genres mastered by the four, dictated a unique musical expression in which they mix jazz, dub, funk, art-rock, afrobeat, Balkan motifs, electronics and experiment. In 2019, the band released the acclaimed debut Distances (Hitchtone Music & Promotion), and a year later the live album Live at Vinyl Factory. The concert in Cerkno will be their premiere Slovenian performance. Saxophonist Boštjan Simon explores the combination of acoustic and electronic music in his numerous ensembles (Velkro, Trus!, Litošt, There Be Monsters, etc.). This time he will present the newer band Etceteral, which he launched in 2019 with drummer Marek Fakuč. Both, in addition to their original instruments (saxophone, drums), electronically modulate the music just played and thus process it into a new soundspace. The result is a hypnoticall, ethereal, but also energetic combination of jazz and electronics. The band released their debut album Ama-gi at Kapa Records last year.
