On an evening full of them, here’s another happy collaboration. Distance is no obstacle when two kindred spirits link up to embark on a unique musical journey that leads from the far past to present and whose magical presence creates trance-inducing melodies and rhythms. The roots Esinam and Sibusile carry within themselves grew in Africa, more precisely Ghana and South Africa; but although they grew up in different cultures, we can hear in their music a common call to musical freedom, where improvisation, and a sound that only these two are able to convey, lead to the creation of songs of meaning and a common goal: to make yourself and others happy on a spiritual level. Druga Godba has become something of a home to world premieres, but few have tasted as sweet as this.

SPIRAL MIND (SI)

This young collective incorporate many different styles, from progressive rock through underground electronic music and jazz to African rhythms and trip hop, to thrilling effect. Now they’ll begin to build on the trust put in them by legendary Slovenian label KAPA, who released their second album, The Inbetweens, late last summer. A landscape of danceable rhythmic experiments from the Slovenian coast, seasoned with salt and a view out into the open sea.
