SLOVENSKI TOLKALNI PROJEKT (The Slovenian Percussion Project)
Conductor: JERICA GREGORC BUKOVEC
Christmas is a holiday that has for many years been celebrated by people throughout the world. The celebration has its origins in pre-Christian times, when many peoples marked the winter solstice, when the days again start to become longer, thus symbolising the triumph of good over evil, of the Sun over darkness. Christmas is a time when the family gathers, a time that we spend with our loved ones. Christmas is a state of mind that is evoked by human warmth, kindness, Christmas songs and genuine happiness.
We would like to conjure up part of this atmosphere with a concert of the most beautiful Slovenian Christmas songs entitled THE CHRISTMAS TREE, which came about in a collaboration between Slovenski Tolkalni Projekt (The Slovenian Percussion Project) and the APZ Tone Tomšič Choir of the University of Ljubljana, and is now nobly continued by the percussionists with the Ave Chamber Choir and the Ipavska Chamber Choir, under the leadership of choral conductor Jerica Gregorc Bukovec.
With its fascinating and appealing combination of the sounds of percussion instruments and choir, the concert THE CHRISTMAS TREE will convey listeners to the magical time of Christmas. Timeless compositions such as Kam hite, pastirci (Where Are You Hurrying, Shepherds) , Sveta noč (Holy Night), Glej, zvezdice božje (Behold the Stars of the Lord) have been musically transformed by composers Katarina Pustinek Rakar, Tadeja Vulc, Andrej Misson and others.
To attend the concert we recommend that visitors use the funicular railway

THE WALL OF WISHES, THE CHEST OF HOPE – DECEMBER FOR EVERYONE AT THE LJUBLJANA CASTLE
From 3 December 2014 to 6 January 2015
In December, we like to wish each other well, to warmly congratulate each other and give each other gifts. At the Ljubljana Castle, from 3 December 2014, when the Christmas lights are turned on in the city and the castle, until 6 January 2015, when the festive events draw to a close, we invite you to write your wish for the coming year on the “Wall of Wishes”, which is awaiting you in front of the Casemate. Give to those who appreciate it the most and who, particularly in the festive month of December, are grateful for a little attention. We invite you to bring school requisites to the “Chest of Hope”, which you will also find in front of the Casemate. At the end of the action, we will give everything that is collected to the Slovenian Association of Friends of Youth, thus bringing joy to young school children in need of help.
May December be magical, pleasant and joyful for everyone.
