After a short interruption of concert activity due to the coronavirus epidemic, the Jazz Cerkno Institute will turn on the stage lights again. The first evening of summer Keltika will offer a double musical treat for fans of engaged songwriting, folk rock and home-made Slovenian blues. Katarina Juvančič & Dejan Lapanja are a well-established singer-songwriter tandem, known for their delicate and engaged songs, in which they especially tackles the fate of women in different periods of the stormy past and no less friendly present. They have published three albums, Selivke (2012), Hope's Beautiful Daughters (2014) and Vmesje (2017), which garnered praise at home and abroad. In Cerkno, they will premiere the performance WHERE ARE YOU, HUMAN? with the subtitle “Contemplation of Humanity in a Dehumanized World”, which includes verses by poets such as Srečko Kosovel, Günter Kunert and Ivan Volarič Feo. The double concert evening will be started by Samuel Blues, one of the most recognizable musicians of the younger generation, who, as his artistic name suggests (his real name is Samo Pivač), dedicates himself to blues. In his interpretation, this classic American genre is overwhelmed by the experience of life in Slovenia, more precisely in the vicinity of industrial city of Jesenice. Harsh, rough and life-affirming music.
