Hombre masa is a dance performance that in its building process and execution develops a strong and responsible individual who can serve as a support system in creating a functional and meaningful collective. Visually, it’s almost kaleidoscopic appearance requires a very attentive audience that is not afraid to be confronted with a large quantity of information, and even understands that it is necessary to decide what draws you in and follow it. Partly inspired by researching the topic of psychology of the masses, partly derived from the writings of José Ortega y Gasset, especially one of his principal works The Revolt of the Masses.

The performance was created as a spin off of Blanca Arrieta’s Temporarily Aligned Bodies, and was further elaborated by Vita Osojnik into the expressionist lines of Egon Schiele’s drawings. The performance Temporarily Detained Bodies dives deep into melancholy and provocation. Both states are very common features found in most of Egon Schiele’s sketches. The performance also draws attention of the audience to the expressiveness of the space itself. Toying with closeness, distance, escort and occasional touches, the performance clearly reflects our current atmosphere.
Vita Osojnik is self-employed in culture, performing a specialized profession as a dancer, choreographer, dance teacher, and street artist. She completed her studies in contemporary dance and choreography at the Salzburg Experimental Academy of Dance and completed her pedagogical and andragogical studies as part of her regular employment at the Secondary Preschool Education, Grammar School and Performing Arts Grammar School. She is the author of several dance performances (Other People’s Children, I Can Easily Carry My Own Weight, Part of Me Is Made of Glass, Cynical Killers of Their Own Mother, Penetrating Into Her Is for Him, Hombre masa etc.) and co-creator of performances (Dream of a Dance Night, Manada, Today for the Last Time, Realigments etc.).
